The Resale Barn began in 1996 under the umbrella of Lakeway United Methodist Church. The mission was to provide rental, utility, prescription and food assistance to those in a financial crisis in Grayson County and to provide an affordable place to shop. Since that time it has given out over two million dollars in financial aide to our neighbors in need and shown them hope through the love of Christ. Pastors from six local churches serve on the board of directors along with laymen from the different churches. Currently it employs fifteen and has thirty volunteers. It offers great volunteer opportunities.
In 2008 it began the Hope Through Grace program which gives continual aide to individuals who are going through chemotherapy and are unable to work. Each year The Resale Barn provides Christmas presents for children and teens from low income families.Last year, with the help of the Pottsboro community, we provided Christmas for 258 children.
