Pottsboro Kids Club

PKC is particularly interested in reaching families whose children qualify for free or reduced cost meal programs at school. After school, children check into the club and receive a snack, help with homework and they participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor games. Activities are designed to challenge the kids physically and mentally.

Extended hours are offered on school days off and during the summer months. Creative and special trainings over various topics are incorporated during this time. Gardening, sewing, rock collecting and computer skills are just some of those topics. PKC also takes field trips during the summer to the movies, local parks, swimming pools, roller skating rink and other fun places!

Pottsboro Kids Club has a qualified and trained paid staff to insure the quality and safety of all children involved in the program. All staff are First Aid and CPR trained. Judy Nolen is the Club Director. Ms. Judy has been with the club since 2006. She brings a passion and love for kids to the job.

The PKC has several opportunities for volunteers. Junio and Senior high school students are encouraged to volunteer to tutor and mentor the younger students. Adult volunteers to help with homework and to interact with kids is always an opportunity for those who can spare some time in the afternoon. Anyone with special skills or hobbies are encouraged to contact the PKC to volunteer to help train kids in various areas of life.

Each November, Pottsboro Kids Club hosts their annual fundraiser, That Dam Lake Texoma 5K Bi-State Run, on the Denison Dam, Lake Texoma. It is PKC’s only fundraiser each year. The 5K attracts many participants from the community as well as the Dallas metroplex. Participants are afforded the opportunity to say they’ve “run across two states,” because the starting line begins on the Oklahoma side of the Denison Dam and finishes in Texas. It has grown to over 300 runners, and continues to expand each year. The race is not only fun, but provides a great view of Lake Texoma during the late Fall.

For more information about enrollment, volunteer opportunities, or sponsorship for the annual fundraiser please call Judy Nolen, Club Director, (903)786-5834.
