The last Saturday during the month of September annually is Frontier Day. This is Pottsboro Chamber of Commerce’s Festival to celebrate the Frontier Era. It honors early Americans who blazed the Shawnee Trail which spanned from the Red River to Dallas, cowboys who drove vast herds of cattle over it, and settlers who stayed to form the community of Pottsboro. Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 29th, 2018 to partake in all the fantastic activities.
This year’s festivities kick off on Thursday and Friday with “wristband night” promotions at the carnival. The carnival continues through Saturday night as ticketed rides.
Saturday is a day you won’t want to miss! The day typically starts with a parade through town, various entertainment at the gazebo throughout the day, and different activities throughout Friendship Park for all ages to participate in!
Nearly one hundred vendor booths exhibit items ranging from homemade food, to cosmetics, to games, to arts and crafts to business information. There’s something for everyone! Children’s activities include FREE pumpkin decorating in the park.
The gazebo area has LOTS to offer! Don’t forget to take in the much-anticipated bug-eating contest, the pet parade, or the martial arts demonstration. A live band, Classic Recall, will also be playing from 1pm until 4pm. Hungry? We’ve got you covered with a variety of foods and snacks. Who can pass up BBQ, kettle corn, snow cones, lemonade, cotton candy and so forth? Again, there’s something for everyone! We hope to see you there!
