Pottsboro Kids Club

The Pottsboro Kids Club is a non-profit organization that started in 2003. The Kids Club moved to the Pottsboro I.S.D. Administration Building in 2013 making available the opportunity to accommodate more kids. The facility can now serve approximately 85-100 children. The PKC is for children who attend Pottsboro Elementary and Intermediate schools. It provides a safe, low-cost, after school alternative for kids who would have to be home alone after school.

The PKC is particularly interested in reaching families whose children qualify for free or reduced cost meal programs at school. After school, children check into the club and receive a snack, help with homework and they participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor games. Activities are designed to challenge the kids physically and mentally.

Extended hours are offered on school days off and during the summer months. Creative and special trainings over various topics are incorporated during this time. Gardening, sewing, rock collecting and computer skills are just some of those topics.

The Kids Club has a qualified and trained paid staff to insure the quality and safety of all children involved in the program. Judy Nolen is the Club Director. Judy has been with the club since 2006. She brings a passion and love for kids to the job.

The PKC has several opportunities for volunteers. Junior and Senior high school students are encouraged to volunteer to tutor and mentor the younger students. Adult volunteers to help with homework and to interact with kids is always an opportunity for those who can spare some time in the afternoon. Anyone with special skills or hobbies are encouraged to contact the PKC to volunteer to help train kids in various areas of life.
