The last Saturday of September each year, Pottsboro celebrates Frontier Day. This is Pottsboro’s way of remembering the cattle drives beginning in the 1850’s and others traveling the Shawnee Trail which spanned from the Red River into Dallas. Settlers who decided to stay versus pass through formed the community of Pottsboro. The cattle drives ceased in the 1870’s, but the history will never be lost and the annual celebration in Pottsboro continues.
